If you need to attend a formal hearing with the Secretary of State, the request should be made through the Chicago or Springfield offices.  If you are hiring an attorney for this proceeding, the attorney will generally handle making this request.  Any request needs to be accompanied by a $50.00 filing fee.

DRIVING RECORDS

If you need to obtain a copy of your Illinois driving record, you can go to your nearest Secretary of State facility and pay $12 to obtain an instant copy of your record.  You may be required to present identification prior to obtaining the record.  If you would like to request a copy by mail, you can send your request to:

REINSTATEMENT FEES FOR SUMMARY SUSPENSIONS

If your driver’s license has been suspended under the summary suspension law, you will need to pay a reinstatement fee to the Secretary of State prior to your provisional reinstatement date for your suspension to terminate on that date.  Reinstatement fees can be paid via mail or by telephone using your Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit card.  To pay your reinstatement fee over the phone, you can contact the Secretary of State at (217) 785-8619.  To send a check, cashier’s check, or money order by mail, you should list your driver’s license number on the payment and send it to:
